MCA text message templates that get replies

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Copy-ready texts for merchant cash advance outreach, written the way merchants actually answer. Tokens in braces fill in per contact: {first_name} and {company} for the merchant, {user.first_name} for the rep.

The short answer

  • Name yourself and your business, ask one question, and say how to opt out.
  • Keep it under 160 characters and leave links out of the first text.
  • Write like a person: no capitals, dollar signs or approval promises.
  • Test a few versions of each message and keep the ones that get replies.

1.Rules for a first text

  • Say who you are and the business you text for.
  • Ask one question that is easy to answer with a word.
  • Include opt-out language such as “Reply STOP to opt out”.
  • No link in the first message. Send it once the merchant replies.
  • One segment, under 160 characters, so it arrives in one piece.

2.First touch

Hi {first_name}, it's {user.first_name} with Acme Funding. Is {company} looking for working capital this month? Reply STOP to opt out.

{first_name}, {user.first_name} at Acme Funding. Would extra capital for {company} help right now, yes or no? Reply STOP to opt out.

Hi {first_name}, quick question from {user.first_name} at Acme Funding: are you still the owner of {company}? Reply STOP to opt out.

Replace Acme Funding with the business name on your 10DLC registration. The last one works well on older lists because it is easy to answer.

3.Follow-ups

Hi {first_name}, following up. If funding isn't a fit right now, just say so and I'll check back later.

{first_name}, are you open to a 5 minute call this week about capital for {company}?

Last note from me, {first_name}. If you need working capital later, this is my direct line. {user.first_name}

4.Old and cold leads

Hi {first_name}, it's {user.first_name} at Acme Funding. We spoke a while back. Is {company} still growing? Reply STOP to opt out.

{first_name}, offers and terms have changed since we last talked. Want me to see what {company} qualifies for today? Reply STOP to opt out.

5.Applications and documents

Thanks {first_name}. Here's the short application, it takes about two minutes: [your link]

Hi {first_name}, we just need your last 3 months of bank statements to send {company} an offer. You can reply here or email them to me.

6.Renewals

Hi {first_name}, {company} may be eligible for a renewal based on your payment history. Want me to check?

{first_name}, you're past the halfway point on your current advance. Want to see what more capital would look like?

7.Words to keep out

These read as spam to carriers and to merchants:

  • “Guaranteed approval”, “no credit check”, “100% approved”.
  • Words in capitals, dollar signs and exclamation marks.
  • Public link shorteners. Use your own domain.
  • Anything that sounds like a payday loan or debt relief offer.

Templates only work on lists that deliver. Read how to text UCC leads and the compliance basics before you send.

Questions brokers ask

Do I need opt-out language in every text?
Put it in the first message to every merchant and repeat it from time to time. Carriers look for it, and it keeps complaints down. STOP must always work, whether or not the message mentions it.
How many follow-ups should I send?
Two or three spaced over a week or two is enough for most lists. After that, rest the lead and come back with a different message weeks later rather than texting it every day.
Should I test different messages?
Yes. Keep a few versions of each message, see which gets more replies from which lists, and keep the winners. Personal messages also read less like a mass blast.
